The second part of the Rotary year has begun with a social theme to begin (First meeting at my house as a social gathering, then Breakfast at the Lagoon Restaurant) then getting to the business at hand with our first meeting at the Novotel on Friday 9 January. Friday 5 December saw Peter, Collette and myself dressed up in period costume to launch Council’s Australia Day Celebrations at Belmore Basin at 10.00am
Saturday was our first Bunnings BBQ with members on hand to begin. We started selling at about 8.30am and went until about 4.15pm. The whole day raised about $2,300, with close to $1,650 clear profit. Raffle ticket sales at the Sausage sizzle were just over $1,000.
David Swan has been elected as the Returning Officer for our Annual General meeting so that all nominations should be sent to him directly. David will also run the election of office bearers on the day. Please support your club by thinking about what you might do. The election is 8 December, next meeting so time is ticking away.

The Gala Cinema in Warrawong hosted the early release of the movie “Murder on the Orient Express” for Rotary on Wednesday 8 November where we had 13 Members and Partners from our club attend. The night seemed to be very successful with the attendance figures, the finger food provided by members and the film. Congratulations to the organisers of this event.
The Gala polio plus movie night – Murder on the Orient Express, was a wonderful Kenneth Branagh production with all the usual suspects – Judy Dench & Derek Jacobi & Kenneth Branagh himself (Hercule Poirot) representing the venerable Shakespearean actor set. Then, Johnny Depp, Daisy Ridley, Ton Bateman & Penelope Cruz representing those a tad younger. In all a great night, thank you to ADG our own Peter Rixon for rounding us up with our contributions…
Director of New Generations, Elaine Hart attended St Mary’s and listened to an absolutely marvelous presentation by our Ryla student, Isabella Martin, to the whole assembly. Very well done. Rotary Race Day at Kembla Grange: We currently have 290 attending & have our MC available again. Prizes are coming in to help fundraising on the day
