Marc Swan, the Venue Manager of WIN Stadium, presented on the back story to the Elton John concert, the biggest night in Wollongong’s entertainment history.
Thanks to Chris for capturing the minutes. Of course the highlight of the meeting (although some may think it a low light) was the celebration of Stephen Swan’s birthday by winning the raffle jackpot. In fact it was a Swan dominated meeting with Stephen’s son Marc presenting to the club

Welcome to Paul McKenna who was inducted into Illawarra Sunrise Rotary this Friday. Paul is CEO of Fig Tree Hospital and got off to a great start in Rotary by hosting an excellent Vocational Visit with a wonderful breakfast provided. I am sure all members will join me in welcoming Paul and eagerly await his next offer to contribute to the club

Susie Crick gave an enlightened insight into the problems with plastic waste in our oceans. Apart from large black spots of waste in our oceans that can be seen from space, partially degraded plastic is a constant presence and contaminant for ocean life.
Race Day at Kembla Grange is one of our most important Fund Raising activities.
The day comprises enjoying the races, a sumptuous meal and entertainment provided by Rotary. The event has a reputation of being a fun day which is great value for money.
Henry Karpik became a volunteer with Vision Australia in 2014. Henry is a Community Presenter who speaks about his personal experience and strategies of living with low vision to community groups and schools. Henry has Aged Related Macular Degeneration and has been a client of Vision Australia since 2012 when his vision deteriorated rapidly. He now has very limited central vision and relies on his peripheral vision to see what little he can. Before retiring…
Brian then introduced Jacinta Pinkster from Dream Big Dancers to show us a video made from the Dream Big Dancers Performance at Woonona Bulli RSL Club. The video was a collage of pictures taken at this performance and comments were made that the smiles on the dancers were worth 10,000 words and no better way of showing the joy felt by those dancers. It was their night.
