President Brian’s Report for 27 Oct, 2017

President’s Report Number 12
We all awoke to some rain this morning and despite the fact that it would have been very easy to roll over and snuggle in, we had a meeting of  19 members and 3 guests. I thank all of the members who attended and I would like to see that many members, if not more, each week. Congratulations.

It was also the start of our raffle ticket selling. Well done those that manned the fort today as it was very cold and wet but sales looked initially quite good at the new price.

I am looking forward to our Halloween TAFE dinner on Wednesday night where about 40 of our members and guests will be enjoying themselves at a dinner, prepared and served by the students of TAFE.

West Wollongong have Dr Matthew Threadgate, Urologist and Robotic Surgeon, talking on men’s health. This will be at Centro on Wednesday 15 November  Bookings can be made through Jim Christensen on 0417 660 526.

Also we have our Premiere Movie Night at the Gala Cinema on Wednesday 8 November showing the new  “Murder on the Orient Express”. Tickets are $20 with proceeds going to Polio Eradication.

This Sunday will see a Working Bee at the Battery, the first for quite some time. I hope there is a good turnout as there is work to be done. Hopefully we will have Pizza or coffee after the work. I also propose to have a mid week afternoon soon, with the aid of daylight saving, followed by a social dinner at our chosen restaurant.

We enjoyed another excellent speaker today but that will be in the minutes of our meeting.

Bunnings BBQ will be coming up soon so I would like all members to consider being part of this new venture as training will have to be undertaken before the actual day. The training is about safety, cleanliness and the conditions we accept to run this BBQ for Bunnings.

The club also sends it’s best wishes to Edith for her recovery and we all hope to see her back soon.

On the final note for this report I would like to congratulate Stephen Swan. Not only is it his birthday tomorrow (21.10), his son was our guest speaker and he won the raffle. As there were no cards to be found I wrote a number between 1 and 52  and Stephen guesses it correctly and took home $240 for his troubles.

Stay safe and well until next week when we meet again.
