Minutes of Rotary Meeting 9th June, 2017

Peter Rixon and Brian Ashe attended the Northern Illawarra Club President’s Meeting and reported back a number of things. The District Governor Elect informed us that the new Constitution has been ratified by Rotary International and for all intent really cannot be changed. This is because if it was altered by an individual club that altered version would have to be approved by Rotary International which would prove so time consuming and difficult that it would be almost impossible

Presidents Report – 4th to 10th June

Last Monday, the handing out of the cheques took place.  The selected charities were nominated by each of the 5 Rotary Clubs of the upper Illawarra.  The money came from the event managers of Wings over the Illawarra, Kerry and Mark Bright.  The Bright’s have been generous to Rotary for a number of years. This generosity was extended to this year as the Bright’s gave to Rotary $10,000 to distribute to our chosen charities.  The…

President’s report – 28th May to 3rd June

June and July are the changeover months.  Monday 29th May was Rotary Club of Fairy Meadows Presentation night.  The Presentation dinner was held at Collegians Club at Balgownie.  President Jenny Godin will continue as President of the club for the next 12 months and this Rotary year will share the presidency with Rotarian Beverly Reardon. Rotarian PP David Guillaume gave the toast to Rotary International and the response was given by District Governor Stephen Humphreys. …

Minutes of Breakfast Meeting : 2nd June, 2017

John Bilboe returned to the club this morning in a beanie because he has no hair. John had done this because Darren, his son, was losing his hair because of the treatment he was receiving. John said he was in good health which was confirmed by his Doctor, and his son Darren recently being diagnosed with Non Hodgskin’s Lymphoma and can only have medication as treatment, which he is doing. All members wished John and his family well.

President’s report – 21st to 27th May

Ride4Rotary was held on a beautiful day as the sun shone.  It was a warm day and little wind.  There were a number of Rotarians thereto support the event.  Members from Rotary Clubs of Corrimal, Illawarra Sunrise and West Wollongong. District Governor Stephen Humphries and wife Judith were there in support as well.  PP David Swan reported at our Club meeting the event raised over $14, 000, to be distributed to Southern Youth and Family. …
