President’s report – 26th March to 1st April
|The Illawarra Pipe Band has been a significant part of our Australia Day March. Not only does the pipe band supply both the Australian National Anthem and the British National Anthem of the early 1900’s “God save the King”. The Pipe Band marches with us as well.
Mervin Riuslton gave an account of the difficulties of playing the bag pipes and marching as well as playing the Australian National anthem. On behalf of our club, PE Brian Ashe presented an IOU for $500.00 as our appreciation to the Illawarra Pipe Band.
Of course we look forward to marching with the Illawarra Pipe band next year. We trust that our problems with the pyrotechnics will be resolved.
|Swing into Wings is shaping up to be a great success for 2017. Tony McAdam has been keenly organising the various aspects of the program. The event will start in the late afternoon as we help to setup the tables and finish with the cleaning up of the dining area.
|We will enjoy the evening as we dine and dance in the HARS Hanger to the music of Rusty Catz. The evening starts with champagne and nibbles onboard the Qantas 747 and all for $90.Our club will support the Big Dream Dancers Programme. Remember, the program starts with drinks and nibbles at 6:00pm, dinner will be served at 7:30pm. There will be a cash bar plus a raffle. Book online at wollongongtickets.com.au just click the link.
Book early and invite your friends as this is our opportunity to give back to the community. Do not forget to come along and enjoy Wings over the Illawarra air show. Look forward to this great event.
|If you have never been to a PET’s (presidents elect training) program you don’t know what you have missed. Both PE Brian and Pres Peter attended this one day event. There we were exposed to completing a club health check, club management, conducting club Meetings, membership and new generation. Well done to PE Brian Ashe on completing your 2 day course.|
