Presidents report – 11th to 18th December

Our family Christmas party was special, as we had family and friends there to celebrate with us.  It was fantastic to have our husbands and wives, mothers and for some their grand children come and enjoy the celebration of Christmas with us Rotarians.

I presented the notion of being ‘on Santa’s team’ as we Rotarians think about bringing  hope, joy and peace to those within our community that have little.  This notion is about Santa who is giving presents to all children.  Our club, generous as usual presented on the day a good selection of toys which will be donated to a local womens refuge in Wollongong to bring hope, joy and peace to families who are suffering crises.

At our club meeting we sang carols and had a little bit of fun.  It was great to have Rotarian Ruth Milne come and play her keyboard for us.  Thank you Rotarians Dennis and Sue Clark for assisting Ruth by bringing the keyboard to the club meeting.  Assistant District Sue Clark informed us that in early February there will be a Movie night at the Gala Theatre at Warrawong.

Happy birthday to Edith Wilson – 19th December

Apology from Wyn Jansen

Saturday was again a busy day as we sold Christmas raffle tickets at Corrimal, Figtree Harvey Norman and Kembla Grange Race Course.  It was another successful day at Kembla Grange as race goers were generous as usual.  The final amount collected from these sites and overall from all the days we sold Christmas Raffle tickets is yet to be determined as money is still being collected.

Our exciting Christmas Raffle concluded yesterday Sunday 18th December.  Four lucky people had their winning ticket drawn by our Lord Mayor, Gordon Bradbury.  Our hard working Rotarian Tony McAdam had our Christmas Raffle well organised.  It has been hard work selling Christmas Raffle tickets and yet it is with satisfaction that our club can support three great local charities from the money raised.  Thank you also to our sponsors:

  • Harvey Norman
  • 12 leading restaurants
  • Simons Jewellers
  • Country Grocer Unanderra

It has been a very busy few months and thank you to each club member for the outstanding contributions you have made during this period.  From Collette and I we wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  May Hope, Joy, Love and Peace be with us all, our families and friends.
