Presidents Report – 25th September to 1 October

Rotarians have great opportunities to be of service to our community.  Over the next few months we will be actively involved with our Christmas Raffle.  This coming week is our ‘kick off’ at the Lifeline Book Fair.  I am mindful that the book fair extends over 3 days and it is great to see our club members supporting this event.

There are a number of events coming up for our club and the minutes from our meeting list these dates.

Race Day Meeting

Bernie promoted that she had old bottles of Red and whites that needed to be consumed.  No better time than the Race Day meeting to help Bernie by sharing a bottle or two of Red and White.  It was reported two more sponsors have come on board, good news.  Still could do with additional sponsors for the race.

Ticket sales for tables have slowed so I encourage club members to purchase their tickets as soon as convenient.  There are a number of auction prizes obtained so far and more prizes are needed.  Thank you to the club members for their donations.  If you would like some ideas for donations, whether fiscal or tangible please ask Bernie or Elaine De Vries.

Another idea for fund raising is to have a floral table arrangement on each table. Table Arrangment

These floral arrangements will be auctioned as part of the fund raising.  If you have any other good suggestions please see the Race Day Committee.

District Governor

rotary_districtgovernorvisit_300916It was great to have our District Governor Stephen Humphreys and wife Judith come and visits us.  Sue Clark our Assistant District Governor also attended, good to have Sue come and visit.  Both Judith and Stephen addressed our club meeting, please read Brian’s minutes of the meeting.

Stephen informed us that the District Conference would be held at the Novotel at Wollongong.  The dates of the District Conference will be held in early March 2017.  Sue Clark has told me that planning is underway for this Conference.  I am sure we will have an opportunity to participate in this Conference.

District Conference allows a good opportunity to network with fellow Rotarians as we all learn from each other and to learn about the many different  activities of Rotary.  I encourage club members to put this event in your diaries for next year.
