20160626_121424Hi Fellow Rotarian’s,
Last Friday we had two fantastic guest speakers.  Geoff Stratton was born in the UK with poor vision and eventually became Blind at five years old. Trained as a Physiotherapist and immigrated to Australia in 1984. Now retired since 2003. Exsight Tandems started in 2008 and has provided tandem riding not only for vision impaired riders but also anyone who is unable to ride their own solo bike.

Over the past 12 months we have been busy working with Geoff Hunter establishing Acoustic Target Shooting which enables the Vision impaired target shooter to locate the bulls eye by an audible high pitched sound, rather than a low pitch when it is off target.

Geoff Hunter described the Acoustic Target Shooting project he has been working on in association with visually impaired people. Using a PowerPoint display and a simulated model, Geoff Hunter described how sound waves are used to assist the visually impaired to sight an air rifle. Geoff told me that he would be willing to host us one Friday night at the German Air Rifle Club at Albion Park Rail. There we can have ‘hands on’ experience using a air riffle.

Clarification of the ‘Murder Mystery Night’, I stated it was on 29th July. This is incorrect as the correct night is the 22nd of July, 2016. Going by last year’s program, the Interact ladies put a lot of effort into this fundraising event and it’s a good night of fun.
