Community Service Awards

Jointly awarded to:

Dr Rhys Gray for his work with local and International projects and Youth Exchange and

Judith Gunn for her commitment of over 40 years to Scouting.

2015-16 Club Member of the year

Michael Yabsley – for his hard work and dedication not only supporting all the Club’s activities but his dedication and enthusiasm in developing and continually updating our new Club website.

Greeted with enthusiasm by all there when both Club member John Pearman, and Former Club Member Myra Castellano-Hegarty were awarded Paul Harris Fellow Recognition.
John and Myra were recognised for amongst many other things their incredible work with the Club’s Phillipines International Projects over many years.

Our Changeover Function enabled the Club to present a Cheque for $3500 to Club member Marilyn Dunn, who just happens to be the coordinator of the Salvation Army’s First Floor Program. The Funds were proceeds from the Club’s very successful Swing into Wings Dinner held in Early May.
In a nice touch, long time Salvation Army Supporter and local Businessman Bill Dowson was invited along to present Marilyn with the Cheque.

But before Bill could sit back down, District Governor Graham Wilson was called upon to present Bill with a very special Certificate from Rotary International recognising his ‘Excellence in Service to Humanity’ ….only one of 5 awarded in District 9675 this Year.

And Bill thought he’d been invited along just to present the Cheque to Marilyn Dunn !!!!

Thank you to all those who made our 2015-16 Changeover so memorable and to those who weren’t able to attend, we hope you enjoy this Special Changeover Edition Newsletter and photos.

President Peter Rixon looks forward to seeing you all next Friday for our regular Club meeting at 7.15am and the start of another fantastic Year for the Rotary Club of Illawarra Sunrise.

A big thank you to Betty Hassan for all the photos .
