President’s Report for W/E June 10th 2016
Over the past 12 months of my Presidency I’ve been fortunate to be able to attend key Rotary events including the Annual District Conference, District Assembly, Canberra Rotary Forum and the terrific Rotary Leadership Institute course –all of which provided me with invaluable insights, ideas and motivation on how to become a better Rotarian, but reinforced the on going challenges faced by all Rotary Clubs at present.
Always the taker of copious notes at such conferences, over last weekend I was going back over some of the key messages presented by 2 speakers at the Annual District Conference held at Nelsons Bay in March. PDG Gary Browne in his presentation on ‘BRANDS’, stressed the need for all Clubs to continue to work Hard to ‘maintain VIBRANCY’ – be VIABLE-and remain VALUABLE!
And that we MUST EMBRACE the DIGITAL AGE , and the opportunities afforded by the use of social media in getting the Rotary message out there, and reaching out to new members.
This should simply remind all of us the need to make our current great new website as the primary source of all Club information as we head into another exciting Year.
On a presentation about Membership, it was stressed again and again , the imperative that Rotary Club’s RETAIN it’s members, LISTEN to it’s members –RECRUIT good members, and always ensure we have a VALUE PROPOSITION when approaching potential new Club members that we must be able to articulate clearly “ Here’s what’s in it for YOU, when you join the Rotary Club of Illawarra Sunrise”
As Rotarian’s, we should all keep these key objectives at the forefront of our thinking to ensure we continue to grow and prosper as a Club .
See you all Friday morning
