President’s Report for W/E May 29th 2016

What a huge Weekend just gone for the Rotary Club of Illawarra Sunrise.
Thank you to all those Club members who helped out at the various events, including our monthly charity bbq at Woolworths Fairy Meadow, those who walked the netball courts at Berkeley Sports stadium raising funds for the Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal( both Lee Furness and Rowan Huxtable did a double shift of the bbq AND Salvation Army –what troopers !!), and then on Sunday , in glorious Autumn sunshine, the Club was well represented at the 3rd annual Ride 4 Rotary Community Bike Challenge at the Unanderra Velodrome. What a Day! it was great to see the car park full , with over 120 riders, both adults and children participating. Ride 4 Rotary raised just on $18,000 with proceeds going to help youths at risk in the Illawarra and to continue the great work of Narelle Clay and her team at Southern Youth and Family Services.
So on behalf of Di North, who made sure the Club played their part in this year’s Red Shield Appeal, along with website wiz Michael Yabsley, Rowan Huxtable and David Swan on the R4R Committee, plus the hungry ‘Woolies’ shoppers who enjoyed a mouthwatering sausage, bacon or steak sandwich at Fairy Meadow, thanks again to all Club members who assisted last weekend.
By the way, for those of you who were concerned …I’m well on the way to recovery in being able to walk properly since my 1st ever bike ride last Sunday morning at R4R. No one told me about the Bike seats !?
See you all Friday morning.
