WingsThank you to all those club members who came along with family and friends to our 5TH Annual Swing Into Wings Dinner last Saturday night at Albion Park Regional airport
Held in the main HARS Hangar, guests wined and dined surrounded by the ‘Connie’ and QF ‘City of Canberra’. The function was a sell out, with 164 guests in attendance , and joined by members of the RAAF Roulettes, the RAN’s Fleet Air Arm Squadron’s, along with the Executive Officer from the ARMY’s Parachute Training School. Our very special guest was Commodore Chris Smallhorn, the Commander of the Fleet Air Arm Squadron, who gave a wonderful and inspiring talk on Aviation, the role that the South Coast has played in flight over many decades, and the legacy of the great Lawrence Hargrave. I’m also reliably told that I was “super hyper active at warp speed’ (who me ? surely not !) the WHOLE NIGHT ! I apologise if that is how I came across, but to see our special night go so well and seeing people really having a fun and enjoyable night , was so pleasing to your organising committee, kept my adrenalin pumping all night. I’m sure that the funds raised will be put to great use by Club member Marilyn Dunn , in her role as coordinator of the Salvation Army’s First Floor Program.
Remember that it is still not too late to let Di North know if you plan going to the District Assembly this Saturday May 7th at Greystanes High School from 9am-4pm(BUT PLEASE DO IT SOMETIME TODAY ) Incoming President Peter Rixon and members of his 2016-17 Board will be attending. Participating in a District Assembly is always worthwhile for any club member who would like to learn more about Rotary and take on a future leadership or Board role in Sunrise Rotary.
Finally ,and thanks to Peter Hill for bringing it to my attention , next week, May 9-15th , is National Volunteers Week , the annual Celebration to acknowledge the generous contribution of this Nation’s Volunteers. The theme again this year is ‘Give Happy, Live Happy’ …sounds like wonderful attitude and disposition of the members of Illawarra Sunrise Rotary !
See you all Friday morning.
