This week I’d like to pass on congratulations and thanks to Club members in a number of areas. Firstly a huge thank you to those Club members and Friends of Sunrise members, who helped out last Sunday at Wave Fm’s Breakfast on the Beach. Leigh Robinson informed me that 55 Rotarians and Friends were in attendance. The event raised $9418 with proceeds this year going to the RSPCA.
Congratulations also to John Bilboe, Peter Rixon, Janice Pettitt and Rhys Gray along with the entire Medical mission team on the fantastic work recently done in the Philippines. Their presentation last Friday was very inspirational, and they encourage any Club member who can spare a week or 2 in January each year to experience the life changing work they do for the very needy.
Congratulations to Di North. Di has taken on the role of District 9675 Secretary and will be an integral part of DG Stephen Humphries team during 2026-17. Di brings a wealth of Rotary knowledge and experience to the position and we wish Di all the best in that new District role.
And finally, congratulations and thank you to Peter Rixon. With PE Lee Furness standing aside from the President’s position due to work commitments , Peter, at very short notice , has kindly agreed to bring forward his Presidency to be our leader from July. Peter has hit the ground running, attending his first Presidents Elect Training day at Liverpool last Saturday. I know you will all join with me in congratulating Peter on his elevation to Club President for 2016-17.
