The Lord Mayor’s Picnic

Rowan and Di had a great morning reading to children at the Lord Mayor’s Picnic in McCabe Park on Sunday 25th October. Rowan was honing his skills to become a great granddad! We were representing the Illawarra Literacy Project by assisting at the Paint the Gong Read tent. The children were very receptive and just loved having stories read to them and many talked about the pictures – what great imaginations!
The Lord Mayor, Councillor Gordon Bradbery was present to officially open his picnic. There were hundreds of preschool children taking part in the many activities – craft, reading, playing games. West Wollongong Rotary Club were in attendance with their barbecue along with other food stalls. One was making spiral apples – a very popular treat.

  1. Didn’t realise Rowan is old enough to be a great-granddad. Must be all that healthy living!
